
Dragan Opančić was born in Sarajevo, where he graduated from secondary music school and finished three years of Academy of Music in Sarajevo. As a scholarship awarded student by The Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture in 1994., he left Sarajevo to continue his studies at Higher educational art institutions for music in Vienna and Graz (piano performance and piano pedagogy). In 1995. he got a scholarship for Mannes College in New York , but despite that he decided to stay in Austria, where he graduated, and finished six semesters of postgraduate studies. He earned his master degree on Academy of Music in Sarajevo.
During his studies, he worked with professors: A.Pap, Z.Jančić, N.Stanković, C.Graf, E.Kolodin, M.Schirmera and B.Kraljević (whose assistant professor he was for six years). He attended masterclasses with professors: R.Kehrer, D.Wilde, M.Ponthus, V.Margulis, E.Picht-Axenfeld and L.Berman. He performed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Austria, Germany, Netherlands and USA (Carnegie Hall, UN-New York, Great Massonic Lodge-New York, Johns Hopkins University, World bank- Washington...).
Dragan Opančić is currently working as a piano performance professor at Academy of Music in Sarajevo.
