Lironima was founded in November 2023 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. The name “Lironima” is derived from the ancient string instrument Lira. The quartet members are winners of international competitions and graduates of the best music universities in Europe. The Lironima Quartet is studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz under the guidance of Alexander Pavlovsky and with Peter Schuhmayer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 2024 they performed multiple concerts at the “Chamber Music Days” Festival and musicology festival “Spiegelungen” in Graz, Austria. Furthermore, in June 2024 they were invited as the Quartet in Residence to the PRISMA Festival in Canada. They had a two weeks long tour in Vancouver and British Columbia performing recitals with music of Haydn, Beethoven and Shostakovich. In August 2024 they were accepted to take part at the renowned chamber music festival “Zeist Music Days” in The Netherlands, They had masterclass wit artists like Simone Gramaglia, Laurent Marfaing, Mark Schumann and others. They were influenced by members of Jerusalem Quartet, Artis Quartet, Quartetto di Cremona and Modigliani Quartet Lironima is part of the string quartet network Le dimore del Quartetto.

Mentor: Alexander Pavlovsky

Alexander Pavlovsky is the founding member and first violinist of the world famous The Jerusalem Quartet, has established a reputation as a highly accomplished chamber musician, soloist and pedagogue. He is a graduate of all branches of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance – the Conservatory and the Academy where he was a student of Professor Matvey Liberman, and a follower of the school of the pre-eminent violinist David Oistrakh.

Alexander Pavlovsky is a frequent guest at international festivals like Verbier, Schlezwig-Holstein, Gstaad, Reingau, Schubertiade, Salzburg, Jerusalem, String Quartet Biennial Festivals in Philharmonie de Paris and Amsterdam. Since 2022 he holds a professor of string chamber music position at the University of Music and performing Arts in Graz. Since 2008 he is Artistic Director of the “Zeist Music Days” International Chamber Music Festival and Masterclasses in The Netherlands, and regularly gives master classes in Europe, North America and Asia.

The rare experience Pavlovsky has acquired is an incalculable asset, not only providing tremendous and valuable knowledge for his students, but also in working on the students personal and group sound, and images as a stage performer.
