Monika Zima

Monika Zima was born in 1964 in Sremska Mitrovica. She began studying the violin at the age of six in her hometown and continued her musical education at the School for Musical Talents in Ćuprija. She completed her secondary music education and graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, studying in the class of Prof. Uroš Pešić.
From the beginning of her studies, she has been engaged with the Opera Orchestra of the Serbian National Theatre, and has also collaborated with other ensembles, including the Vojvodina Philharmonic and the Novi Sad Chamber Orchestra. Since 1989, she has been permanently employed as a violin professor at the Isidor Bajić Music School in Novi Sad, and from 2002 to 2019 she also served as Head of the String Department.
Throughout her pedagogical career, her students have achieved outstanding results at national and international competitions, earning more than one hundred awards, predominantly first prizes. Together with her students, she has given numerous solo concerts and participated in masterclasses with distinguished national and international professors.
She is a recipient of the Provincial Award for Mentor of the Most Successful Student in 1997, 2007, and 2012. In 2008, the City of Novi Sad awarded her a Certificate of Appreciation for exceptional achievements in working with students, while in 2010 she received an award from the Association of Music and Ballet Schools of Serbia (ZMBŠS) for many years of outstanding results in educating talented students.
Since 2000, she has regularly served as a jury member at numerous music competitions and festivals.
