
Ivana Kuljerić Bilić is an internationally renowned marimba virtuoso and versatile percussionist. A graduate of Prof. I. Lešnik's class, she is now a full professor at the Zagreb Academy of Music, where she is the Head of the Department of Conducting, Percussion, and Harp, and the Director of Postgraduate Studies.
In 2024, she was invited to teach as a visiting professor at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA.
In the same year, she was appointed Artistic Director of one of the longest-running classical music festivals in Croatia, the Music Evenings in St. Donatus.
She regularly performs with European orchestras (Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, W. Lutoslawski Philharmonic, Pannonian and Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestras, Dohnanyi Symphony Orchestra, Presidential Symphony Orchestra Ankara, SOHRT), and at international festivals (Zagreb Music Biennale, Musicora Paris, Tempus Fugit Tel Aviv, Melos Ethos Bratislava, Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Split Summer Festival, Julian Rachlin and Friends).
She participates in chamber, theatrical, and crossover productions in Europe, South America, China, and the USA, performing in venues such as Merkin Hall in New York, Palacio de las Bellas Artes in Mexico City, and the Franz Liszt Concert Hall in Budapest.
In 2021, she founded the Percussion Club ensemble with which she performs in Europe and the USA. She has been a member of the Synchronos ensemble since 2019 and regularly holds workshops on contemporary music. Since 2014, Ivana has been performing regularly with Nikola Krbanyevitch in the I.N.K. Experiment Duo, with whom she has guested at festivals in Europe, the USA, and Asia. In Croatia, their multimedia performances at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the Zagreb Music Biennale, as well as their collaboration with the Chui group, have been particularly noteworthy.
She regularly gives masterclasses and serves as a jury member at marimba and percussion competitions. In 2008, she founded the international percussion festival IBMW (later renamed ISPF).
Ivana has worked as the principal timpanist of the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra for many years. She is the recipient of the most prestigious Croatian performing arts and recording awards – Milka Trnina, Ivo Vuljević, and three Porin awards for best performance.
She is a composer whose works have been published by Edition Svitzer, Malletworks, Inkoplastika, and Cantus. Ivana is a Marimbaone artist with her own line of mallets.
