
Julia Gubajdullina was born in Chișinău, Moldova, into a family of distinguished musicians.
She commenced her piano studies at the tender age of four and garnered considerable acclaim at twelve when she performed with the Moldavian Philharmonic Orchestra. She graduated summa cum laude from the Music Academy in Chișinău, under the tutelage of Lyudmila Vaverko, and completed her postgraduate studies in 1999 at the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, under the guidance of Yuri Khachatryan.
She won first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Romania (1993) and, as a soloist, distinguished herself by winning first prize at the International Competition in Moldova (1997) and third prize at the International Competition Citta di Sulmona in Italy (1999).
She is the recipient of the UNESCO Special Prize for Outstanding Artistic Achievements. She has performed with leading symphony orchestras and, under the baton of renowned conductors such as V. Doni, M. Secikin, M. Ahmet-Zaripov, Ch. Rehli, and E. Leduc-Barome, she has performed numerous piano concertos by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Franck, Schumann, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, and Scriabin.
In 2000, she moved to Sarajevo, where she taught at the Music Academy and was a permanent member of the SONEMUS ensemble. With this ensemble, performing contemporary music, she successfully presented herself abroad: Zurich (2004), Zagreb Music Biennale (2005, 2007).
Since 2005, she lives in Croatia, where she works at the Zagreb Academy of Music as an associate professor and head of the chamber music department. She has performed in numerous cycles and festivals such as Molto cantabile, Pianofortissimo, Musicians in Zagreb, Diapason, Vivat Academia, Opera selecta, and others. A passionate chamber musician, Julia has collaborated with distinguished artists such as Tatiana Samouil, Monika Leskovar, Martina Gojčete-Silić, Renata Pokupić, Alina Gubajdullina, Marko Genera, Krešimir Lazar, Marko Graziani, Ivana Lazar, Milan Čunko, Vladimir Kossjanenko, and others. For almost two decades, she has performed in a piano duo with Ruben Dalibaltayan with whom she founded the Makarska Summer School, where she has held masterclasses since 2006.
She is a member of music competition juries and a guest professor at seminars in Croatia and abroad.
