
Vice Zirdum (1984. Đakovo, Croatia) graduated from highschool A.G.Matoš in Đakovo and from music school Franjo Kuhač in Osijek, the department of theory of music. After successfully finishing his secondary education he enrolls in the Academy of Music from the University of Zagreb, department of music and culture studies. In 2006. he was elected in the students exchange program between the Academy of Music in Zagreb and the IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) in the USA where he spent one semester in the spring of 2007. In 2008 he graduated from the Academy of Music in the class of professor Siniša Leopold on the topic of “Tambura kao orkestralno glazbalo“ (Tambura- the instrument of the orchestra). Since 2007 he has been working as a professor of tambura in Križevci. His students participate in the state competitions of Croatian Associations of Music and Dance Pedagogues where he wins many awards (1st prize on a state competition in 2013 and in 2015), on the International competition of Tambura players in Subotica and Požega (1st prize in 2014, 2015, 2016). He is a member of the Croatian Association of tambura pedagogues. He takes part in publishing the note book for tambura “Gdje su mi note” (“Where are my notes”) as the author of the original compositions and remakes for tambura. He is a member of the Croatian tambura orchestra where he acts as a musical arranger, performs at the concerts in Zagreb (Lisinski 2008, 2009, 2012) and in Vienna (Wiener Konzerthaus 2009). He builds on his education and knowledge on seminars for choirs and tamburas (Mats Nilsson, Dubrovnik 2005), Mitchell Sandler (Zagreb 2004), Svetlana Krajna (Opatija 2010). He participates in seminars organized by the Education and Teacher Training Agency. He has been active in all fields for tambura, so that he also works with the Tambura orchestra of HRT (Croatian National Television) as an arranger, and he works as a manager of the department for tambura with the Association for culture and art Kašina. He was a memeber of the jury for the discipline of tambura on the competition of young musicians Sonus op. (2014) and on the International competition of tambura players in Požega (2016). He works as a composer, particularly for tambura and the orchestra for tambura, and we can especially point out from his work the composition for tambura orchestra ”Remembering Taiwan” for which he won the first prize on the competition of the Croatian Cultural Association for new compositions, as well as the composition “Spring” for tambura and piano for which he won the first prize in the category of solo tambura in 2016 on the competition of Croatian Tambura Pedagogues for new compositions. His compositions “Mali Kauboj”, ”Ples po žici” and “Fantazija za brač” were chosen for the competition in the disciplines of bisernica and basprim tambura in the competition of Croatian Association of Music and Dance Pedagogues of the school year 2016/2017. In 2016 he was promoted to a professor mentor by the Ministry of science, education and sport.
